As some of you may already know, This is HCD is almost entirely voluntarily run, apart from the editing and transcription services of the podcast, we have been financially supporting the development of everything to date ourselves.
As a result of this, and wanting to take the podcast to the next level, we need a consider sustainable revenue model to allow us to not only grow but also to just sustain. We really feel there’s a huge need to provide richer and more meaningful content or a regular basis, and one of the ideas was Bringing Design Closer.
We don’t want to have to sell ads in the middle of the episodes and potentially ruin what we consider to be a very intimate experience between us. This isn’t about making money for us, this is about sharing, growing and nurturing the craft of HCD and helping it grow well into the next decade. We believe in the altruistic nature of This is HCD.
We believe that these select events allow us to generate ‘just enough’ income to survive and allow us to keep the machine ticking over. But it’s extra cool that we can do this whilst promoting and working with great talent, and connecting that talent to our local communities in NYC, Dublin and Sydney.
